What ereader is the best????

I've been looking at the different ereaders and I'm still not sure which one to get. I have saved up a bunch of Amazon money (and I can't buy what I really need with it), and since I didn't get one for Christmas, I've decided to get an ereader. I know Connie H. has a Sony Ereader she likes.....and Angela has a Kindle....and I spoke to someone from dance that loves their Nook.

Help? What do you think? Which one is the best? Which one should I get? I've sort of eliminated the Kobo.

I'm like you, thinking of getting one with income tax refund. I asked the same question and the camp was pretty evenly split between Kindle and Nook. Although I did get some great reviews for iPad. I'm choosing the Kindle for price, size and getting a cover for it so it really feels booklike.

I felt I didn't need color for magazines (the Nook color) since I don't plan on buying that many mags, I like the paper-quality of the fonts and appearance of the Kindle, the price is great. I'm not planning on getting the 3G WiFi Kindle, which drives the price up.

I hope you like whatever you choose. I can't wait to have so many of my books on one gadget! What a great thing for tking my library with me.

I didn't like the Nook color...and it's so heavy. Now you know that you can't use Kindles at the library....only Nooks and Sony Ereaders.

Ipads were recommended to me too, but they start at $500.

I have the Nook with wifi and 3g. I have had it since August and really do like it. I have a cover on it which makes it feel more like reading a real book and the e ink display does not bother my eyes. I think your more limited by the Kindle but have no real experience with one. The only problem I have had with my Nook is that I have never been able to get it to connect with the wifi in my house. I have never brought it to a Barnes and Noble store to see if it will hook up there. I know there are programs out there that can even convert an e book so it can be read on the Nook. I downloaded one but have not tried it yet. If your planning on purchasing one believing it will save you money you may want to revise your thinking. New releases of e books are not cheap. B&N does however have specials on e books and by taking advantage of them I have discovered authors I would have previously overlooked. The Nook also has a lend feature but not all ebooks are lendable. I am a big gadget person and am toying with buying the Nook color but keep talking myself out of it.

That is the reason I bought mine. I have a bad habit of reading more than one book at a time and one small Nook is a lot lighter than a stack of books.

I have been looking at the Nook and Kindle, but I have a touch and can read with that too so I have not been tempted enough to buy either.

Not sure but I wouldn't mind having one, now that so many ARC's for reviewers are going to eBooks.

You know I have a Kindle. My husband has an Ipad. I would not spend the money on the Ipad if you are only going to use it for reading. If you want to use it for other things then go for it but wait because I believe the new Ipads are coming out around June or so. I love my Kindle but I don't like that you can't check out ebooks at the library for them. SO if you don't have the money to buy books then don't go with the Kindle. Unless of course you like all the free books that Amazon offers for the Kindle. They offer about 10 new free books a day. I am picky though so they never offer the kinds of books I want.

PanDigital. I got mine at Bed, Bath and Beyond, under $100.00. It has WIFI, it's in color and you can get your ebooks from Barnes and Noble. You can also download photos and games. Check it out here:

Also, you can go to BB&B and sign up for e-mails which will give you a one time 20% off coupon and use this for your purchase. I really like it, DH and I both have one. They run a sale on them every so often also.

I have all this Amazon money saved up.....and since I didn't get anything for Christmas, I thought I'd get one. I can't buy the washer or stove with the Amazon money, and that's what I really need.

I have both a Sony and a Kindle.

I use the Kindle most of the time, and I prefer it's size and weight. Most newly published books are available at Amazon for instant download on the day they are published. The e-ink also gives it the "feel" of reading a book, and it works in all kinds of light - even direct sunlight.

I still use the Sony for some things because it works with a lot of different formats, and I can download tons of free e-books from the internet at places like Project Gutenberg and Free E-Books.

If possible, get your hands on any readers you are considering, so that you can see how they feel and work.

I like the Kindle for a variety of reasons but remember that an e-reader is a personal decision just like a phone or computer. Not everyone will benefit from the same product. I like the Kindle because it's lightweight for travel or carrying in a purse and is easy on the eyes. I have an iPad that is great for photos but not at all good for reading (too much glare and a shiny surface screen). The important thing to consider is what you will be reading: books, magazines, newspapers or blogs or a combination, then consider which one will really benefit your use. Another important aspect is which books are available and what variety of reading material. The Kindle isn't friendly to independent booksellers but the iPad is so you have to do some diligent research before deciding. Good luck.

Well, I have an iPad, which I would consider to be too expensive to be "just an eReader". I've listened to a lot of reviews though, and the consensus seems to be that the Kindle comes out on top. It has an excellent screen that everyone raves about, seems to be easier to use than the Sony Nook, and has the largest book collection of the rest of the eReaders combined.
All *that* said, I wouldn't give up my iPad for anything. however, I use it as an eReader as only 1 of the myriad number of functions I use it for!

I eliminated the Kobo too... Today, I ordered a Kindle...The Nook was in the final two...but I get a lot of Amazon gift cards which will make book buying easier. Sooo..The Kindle it is...

I ended up getting a Kindle for my birthday, but it still took me months to get it out and actually use it. I still prefer a written book.

I'm still waffling. I've toyed with getting a Sony e-reader for classics and just buying the books written by our Gather authors that are not available in e-Pub.

I use it for the free books...and I've discovered a few authors that way. I've also read one or two books that I'd NEVER read again or recommend.

I also learned you have to be careful downloading or you may end up with the wrong book. LOL
