THURSDAY I AM FLYING TO NEW JERSEY TO SEE MY DAUGHTER, GRANDCHILDREN AND SON-IN-LAW
I AM REPOSTING THIS IN HONOR OF THAT VISIT

THAT WHICH SHE CALLS ME
©2009 by David Wainland
She asks and I fly
No matter where
And less the reason
She calls me
Her Knight
In Shining Armor
Indifferent that
My shield be pitted
Gauntlets dulled
Greaves rusted
Faceplate worn
Chain mail ragged
She sees beneath
Tarnished breastplates
My beating heart
Filled with love
And caring
For a daughter
I would crawl
Face dragons
Evil knights and ogres
For only one
“Daddy you’re my Knight
In shining armor.”
