Just By Your Side
Just let me walk along with you
I'll be here by your side
just lead me where you want to go
We'll cast a shadow wide
I have no need to dominate
To lead or lag behind
Just by your side will be just fine
I hope you will not mind
We'll talk of any thing you choose
I'll hear all that you say
I'll tell you what I think and why
we'll laugh along the way
I want to hear and love your voice
I'll make you feel at ease
for that is one thing I do well
no need to ask me "please?"
no matter what the weather man
predicts about the day
the sun will brightly shine on me
in smiles you cast my way
and everything shall special seem
the skies gleam special blue
the meadowlarks will sing their song
epecially for you
perhaps you'll find I'm not half-bad
and place your hand in mine
perhaps a kiss wouldn't seem amiss
and taste like sweetest wine
I have no need to overwhelm
or go too fast or slow
I only want to learn of you
what you want me to know
we won't undress...I will not press
for things that might not be
until your heart beats flutter- fast
and you offer all to me
your soul incites my own to crave
the lovely things we share
our hearts beat strong to silent song
see beauty everywhere
but none eclipse your comeliness
you've beauty all your own
you must have been bonnie babe
so fine now fully grown
and if you deem me worthy (please!)
I'll hold you close to me
enfold you in my big strong arms
as if 'twas endlessly
and if our fates and stars align
and moons come into phase
we might find we're what we both need
and these our halcyon days
and by the time our time is done
then, surely we will know
if our hearts race and pound apace
when I get up to go
if we should kiss a long "goodbye"
hate that we have to part
I'll open wide...let you inside
and let you have my heart

Thank you for all your help, Ann. Much appreciated.
Not that you are a "mom" type, but there are similarities here. (big grin)

I love the last verse.
I appreciate your friendship!
I think Gettysburg is haunted - and it was a haunting experience to be there when there I was. Moving!
And even just for writing it, you do deserve our compliments.
Thank you for taking the time to read my posts. I'm sure you have many things you could be doing instead. Spare time is precious time. Thanks for spending it here with me.
