Heidi Montag has been called "trash" by an executive at Bravo, and she and her husband are rather upset over it. Bravo network executive Andy Cohen launched into a tirade aimed at Montag and her husband Spencer Pratt, when they voiced interest in appearing on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
According to a report from RadarOnline, Heidi and Spencer met earlier this week with Cohen to express their interest in appearing on the show. They said they could undoubtedly "bring some heat" to the ratings. Rather than simply turning down the offer or using a standard "we'll get back to you," Cohen started ranting and wound up referring to Montag as trash.
"Professionally, I'm not supposed to discuss any negotiations so I have to parse my words here. That trash is delusional and I would sooner stab ... knives into my own eyes than see her on this network," Cohen ranted.
He finished up by calling Heidi Montag the "Jackhole of the week."
Sounds like a great guy, doesn't he? Now, probably everyone will agree that Heidi Montag doesn't equal massive intelligence or even reasonable talent, but to call her "trash" was not only unkind, it was also unprofessional.
A friend of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt summed the situation up fairly well.
"Andy Cohen has polluted American TV with some of the most inane shows ever. For him to call someone trash shows a complete lack of self-awareness and self control. We understand Andy Cohen is desperate for ratings, but he's acting like a character from one of his shows," the friend said.
And it's true. Cohen produced and produces shows like Kathy Griffin My Life on the D-List, The Real Housewives of Orange County, Bethenny Getting Married? and Tabatha's Salon Takeover. Now, if Cohen was in charge of shows with high quality content and A-list stars, it probably would have been a far-fetched notion for Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt to want in on one of them.
But, come on. This guy and what he said is a perfect example of "you are what you eat." He didn't have much to stand on when calling Montag trash.
But on and on the proverbial Hollywood circle goes. Those who thrive stay on the ride, until it stops revolving. And then there are the Heidis and the Spencers. They'll one day fall off and get kicked underneath the merry-go-round, and probably no one will miss them. But guess what? They'll probably find people just like Andy Cohen underneath there already.
