Tonight's new episode of Bones was "The Daredevil in the Mold." While they did have a murder to solve, the question on all fans' minds wasn't about that, but instead, "Will Booth propose to Hannah?”
BMX riders
Sweets asks Booth if heÂ’s too young to get married. He says he is, but Sweets wants to get married before he ends up BoothÂ’s age. TheyÂ’re going to propose to their girlfriends and pick out rings together.
At the crime scene, Booth is hungover. The victim is covered in mold and was dropped then dragged. They canÂ’t figure out how the killer got on the roof.
Hodgins says the mold couldn’t be from the roof but can’t identify it. Colin shows Brennan that almost every bone of the victim’s was broken. Some are old, but there are plenty of fresh ones. Hodgins slowly removes the mold while Colin stands by listening to his headphones. Cam thinks that all the broken bones will make identification through medical records easy. Hodgins identifies the mold as “dog vomit slime mold” and found a bedbug.
Booth, Brennan, and Hannah meet for lunch, and he says he and Sweets just had a “guy conversation.” Angela joins them with a likeness of the victim.
Hodgins finds an outbreak of the type of bedbug he found and mold in three hotels. A gang of BMX riders stole mattresses from one of those hotels to use for landing.
Angela, Booth, and Brennan talk to Pete about anyone missing from a bike park, but he doesnÂ’t recognize the sketch. Angela recognizes the mattresses and Booth tries to stop everyone. No one listens until Brennan jumps into the path of a rider, who identifies the sketch as Dustin, aka D-Rot. He was always getting injured. Staci and Ty tell them Dustin was trying to get sponsored and wanted a shot of him jumping roof to roof. Staci had been designing ramps for him. They think someone killed him for his bike.
The bike in "The Daredevil in the Mold"
Angela and Hodgins talk about what they want their baby to be, career-wise.
Booth and Sweets talk to Noel about finding the stolen bike. Booth has used him before, though heÂ’s not exactly the upstanding citizen.
Colin thinks he found the cause of death: internal decapitation—blunt force trauma to the chin, which snapped the neck and killed him.
Noel calls Booth and points out a kid who he saw on the bike. The kid grabs the bike and starts running, but Booth catches him. Booth interrogates Orlando, who sells fake IDs. He says he found the bike between two buildings and didnÂ’t know Dustin.
Hodgins finds something in the mold and Colin identifies it as bone.
Angela uses toys to recreate the accident, but no matter how she positions the biker, the cause of death canÂ’t be part of the crash.
Hodgins found some kind of broken glass in the mold, and Colin tells them the bone is actually a tooth from an acne-ridden 23- or 24-year-old—Dustin was only 20.
Booth brings in Ty, who has acne, and says he was jealous of Dustin. But Ty says that Dustin kept the tooth after they had a fight about something on the ramps. He has one of DustinÂ’s as well.
Colin shows Brennan glass in the fracture on the mandible left by the weapon.
Rings and a proposal
Booth and Sweets go shopping for rings, but the psychologist decides against proposing because heÂ’s too busy looking at the prices. Booth is still planning to propose.
Angela goes to see Staci about DustinÂ’s stunts and reassures her that her designs didnÂ’t kill him. She says he launched himself from the ground. He had to be going 40MPH and someone had to be towing him to give him that speed.
Angela has redesigned the accident. The glass in the mold and fracture is from a cast—something many riders had in the park. Angela realizes he was kicked and the only one with a broken leg was Pete.
Booth brings Pete into interrogation and Pete asks if perhaps the accident killed him and not his kick. He was “so amped up” from the stunt—he was the one to tow him in his van. He says the stunt looked amazing but when he got on the roof, Dustin hit him and they fought.
Booth proposes to Hannah but even though she loves him, she says she can’t marry him because she’s not the marrying kind. She asks what happens now and wants to go back as if it never happened, but he can’t. She’s going to get her stuff out of his place. She thinks they’re only done “for now.” After she walks away, he throws the ring in the water.
Booth sits down at the bar in Founding Fathers and starts drinking. Brennan finds him when he’s “relatively” drunk. Hannah called her, but he doesn’t want to talk about it. She asks what happens next and he goes down the list of women he has loved. He says they’re partners who catch the bad guys then go to the bar to celebrate. That’s what happens next. If she’s okay with that, she can stay and have a drink with him. If not, she can leave and he’ll find her a new partner. She asks if those are her only choices and says she’ll have a drink.
