Actress Kristen Stewart is reportedly going to play a male-to-female transsexual for a new movie role. The film is called "K-11" and has been in delays since 2008 for a variety of issues.
According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, in the new movie "K-11," Stewart will play the role of Birdy, a transgendered inmate. "K-11" refers to a particular unit of the Los Angeles male prison where gay or transgendered males are locked up so other inmates won't attack or rape them.
No need for Kristen to worry about her parents arguing over this concept either. The director of the film just happens to be Kristen's very own mother, Jules Mann-Stewart, but the film has been delayed due to funding and casting issues. Also, Kristen Stewart is a pretty busy actress with her current filming schedule, as one might expect.
Kristen Stewart is famous for her work in the vampire series, "Twilight," where she is constantly obsessing over whether to be human or an immortal vampire. So with that sort of interesting character work in the back of her head, she may be able to work well in this role if it involves a lot of internal conflict over her choices.
So could this possibly be Kristen Stewart's big breakthrough role? Depending on how she does, this sounds similar to another talented actress who was given critical-acclaim for her work. Hilary Swank won an Academy Award for her work in the 1999 film, "Boys Don't Cry." She did a lot of preparation work for that, including living like a man for at least a month. Will Stewart be able to dedicate herself to the role in such a manner?
