Mad Love sounds quite a bit like How I Met Your Mother, which is somewhat appropriate in that it airs on CBS at 8:30PM Eastern, right on the heels of HIMYM.
Comparisons come easily enough. Mad Love is about four friends in New York, except two of those friends canÂ’t stand each other--Larry (Tyler Labine) and Connie (Judy Greer)--while the other two, Ben (Jason Biggs) and Kate (Sarah Chalke), are falling in love.

Not only does Mad LoveÂ’s Ben sound like HIMYMÂ’s Ted--heÂ’s a hopeless romantic--the new CBS comedy also has a few How I Met Your Mother veterans on staff.
Â
Sarah Chalke had a long-running guest stint, as TedÂ’s love interest, no less; Judy Greer also guest-starred as TedÂ’s movie date; and Pamela Fryman is the director of both shows.
All those comparisons aside, Chalke has long deserved a leading role, and Greer is always fun to watch. Hopefully, these ladies get a bit of help from Biggs and Labine in pumping up what sounds like a done-before storyline.
The CBS "original" comedy was originally slated to premiere on February 21 but was pushed up a week for a ValentineÂ’s Day airing.
Will you be giving Mad Love a chance? Or does it sound too familiar?
