My Beauty
with lying eyes
she sees the beauty she owns
how can she NOT see
the woman I desire
Gazing back in the mirror?
the same image I see...
a paragon of loveliness
that makes me ache
for her touch
her kiss
her kindness
her skin both soft and warm at once...
her dark brooding eyes that gaze at me
like a feast soon to be enjoyed
how can there be two visions
so dramatically different...
so diametrically opposed...
of the beauty I see?
a "half-full/half-empty"
scenario, I suppose
self-perception is such a liar...
such a bitch
I want her...
she moves me in ways
only lovers understand
so full...so engorged is my groaning...
so soft and smooth is she
in my arms
my intent?...to touch her everywhere
and she encourages me
to do just that
she is tender, loving, eager...
never meager...
she sends me to the moon and back...
she hangs on tight as we head off to the heavens
and gently holds me as we settle down to earth...
she enfolds me in her arms
as we dance our dance...
slowly moving to licentious music in our heads
sensuously, silently,
we thrust and sway
without misstep we whirl away
in a world for two...
our bodies only instruments that we play so perfectly
in tune to a symphony heard silently in our soul
she's a cornucopia I consume
when I am blessed ...
a treasure house of loveliness
I count and recount when I'm alone...
when the tide is high
and the surf beats strong
I realize I'm a wealthy man
to have a friend-
a love like her...
for all she's given me
for all she enables me to be
for the times she makes me weightless
for her, I make a wish...
a prayer I pray to
the God of Epiphanies
that for every minute-
every hour-
every day of her life-
in that mirror
she will see and be
the beauty I behold
each moment we're together

Beautiful words, Stephen.
of the beauty I see?.../self-perception is such a liar.../such a bitch"
Steve, I love it that you are writing on this theme of female self-perception, and I would love to see you develop it further.

Thanks, Sheila.
It is very sweet to see that kind of adoration in a man's eyes.
