On a recent trip to the local library, I came across a book by Andy Rooney (of CBS' "60 Minutes" fame). In Common Nonsense he shares some of his observations on life. Here is just one of them that caught my eye:
"Further proof of the fact that hope springs eternal is everyone's anticipation that the mail will bring something wonderful even though it almost never does."
-- Andy Rooney
Do you look for free samples online, or enter sweepstakes trying to win something useful or fun that would save your family money? How many times do we head to the mailbox, with that little spring in our step, hoping that little goodie we've been waiting for will show up today? Or maybe we will get that notification letter that says we won something really special! How often do we find not a nice treat, but a couple of bills and a generic credit card offer or gaudy car ad instead?
Well, tomorrow is Monday -- a mail day -- and even though (or perhaps in spite of the fact that) I know what Mr. Rooney says is generally true, here's hopin'!

and I'm always hopeful about the mail, so now i'm hoping for you too!
Andy is just great. I loved to listen to his short words of wisdom.
