The other day, I posted about Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee obviously not understanding the Constitution. She claims that repealing ObamaCare would violate the 5th and 14th amendments.

You Have to See This: Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee - Repealing ObamaCare Would Be ‘Unconstitutional’Â
Now, Rep. John Lewis has also shown that he doesn't understand our founding documents. Somehow, he thinks that the words "pursuit of happiness," the Preamble to the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the 14th amendment of the Constitution are what prove that Obamacare is Constitutional and that the government SHOULD require individuals to have health insurance.
Â
Â
Here's part of the article:
Â
(CNSNews.com) -Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) said on Tuesday that the government should require individuals to buy health insurance and cited the Preamble to the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence’s “pursuit of happiness†language and the 14th Amendment as the sources of Congress’ authority to enact such a mandate.
Â
“I think people should be required to get health insurance. We require people to get insurance for their automobile state by state but the federal government has an obligation to encourage by law, moral persuasion, to get people to get health insurance,â€Â Lewis told CNSNews.com on Tuesday after a House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee hearing in opposition to Republican efforts to repeal the health-care law enacted last year.

Â
I think it's time for us to start making each candidate for the House and Senate take a test to prove that he/she understands the government that he/she is going to serve and the founding documents.
Â
I also think it's quite obvious that liberal Democrats - in and out of Washington - do not understand that "pursuit of happiness" means that you have to PURSUE something. That means that you have to take action, not sit on your behind and wait for the government to give you some happiness.
Â
In this country, we have equal access to the opportunities and the activities that will lead to success or failure. What we do not have and cannot have is the promise that there will be equal outcomes. There never will be. Some people are smarter than others. Some are more ambitious and more motivated than others. Some are more creative than others.
Â
Some of the most miserable people I've met are liberal Democrats. "Giving" them health care is not going to change that. They'll just find some other thing they want that others have and they'll petition the government to "give" that to them as well.
Â
It's too bad that no one ever taught them that what gives one satisfaction is achieving something, is setting goals and working toward them.
Â
Happiness is not in stuff. It's certainly not in your neighbor's stuff. And it's not in having whatever you think they guy down the street has that you want because he's so happy and you're not.
Â
It could very well be that the guy down the street doesn't have any more income than you do, but that he learned to save up for the things he wanted. And it could very well be that the guy down the street achieved his level of happiness from his relationship with the Lord, from his hard work, and from his relationships with his family and friends.
Â
Getting off my soapbox now.
Â
I really do think that an IQ test and a civics, history and geography test should be required of anyone wanting to represent "we the people" in Washington.

I would throw in a simple math test too.
A lie detector test
Prove that they paid their income taxes
Lewis, sounds like your reasoning means it would be Constitutional to pass a bill that gives me a 50% off card on any purchase I make- losses borne by the seller. That would help my "pursuit of happiness"!
I love to make those libbys mad...!
If that isn't a tip off that Washington is in the toilet I don't know what is!!
Its sad when you have people on here ranting about the Palin kid that got pregnant and acting as if they are so elite... If Bristol Palin was all that I had to worry about, I would be one happy camper...
SOme people really need to get a grip on reality or they may of just checked out all together...
This country has always pulled itself out of the ditch our politicians put us in through good old fashion hard work and innovation. The best thing the government can do is cut it's size and get the hell out of the way! Stop stealing our money so we can manage this economy the way it was built to be managed! By the people and for the people. Not by a government constantly sucking us to our graves.
Save our economy.. drop fewer bombs!
In the case of the Arizona killings they still don't know why the killer went off. Those on the left just started shooting their mouths off on a topic no one had answers for!
The whole thing reminds me of how the healthcare bill was passed.. no one knowing what was in it! So we have loons on the streets and loons in Congress. If you want to twist things, the way the libs have, we could blame every evil in the world today to our Congress!! :O/
"Just 15 percent answered correctly that the phrase 'wall of separation' appears in Thomas Jefferson's letters -- not in the U.S. Constitution -- [and only] 19 percent of the general public."
