When Miriam Fowler Smith, 65, of Pacolet Mills, S.C asks God for advice he answers and a dog loses his life. Smith didn't know what to do when her nephew's pit bull Diamond chewed on her Bible so she asked God and, according to Smith, God told her that Diamond was a "devil dog" and should be destroyed. Smith hung the dog from a tree with an extension cord and then burned the body.
Smith's nephew, who had been out of town, initially thought that Diamond had broken his leash until he confronted his aunt who confessed and told police officers that after the Bible chewing incident she thought the dog would start attacking children in the neighborhood. Smith has been charged with felony animal cruelty.
For those out there who think that pit bulls are the only dogs that do damage, and there are people who think that, I've owned several different breeds of dogs who have done there fair share of chewing, including Jack Russell Terriers, who by the way are related to pit bulls. Sadly I know a few people who would say good riddance to a pit bull being destroyed even in such a horrifying manner.

Pit bulls can actually make great family dogs if they have been trained properly. My friend J bought one for her daughters and he is so sweet and he loves those girls.
People need to realize that ANY dog can be "bad" and that any breed can be "good".
My MIL has 6 Jack Russells, and we had to tell her that she had to keep them "up" when my son, and later both my sons, came over, because one of them was CONSTANTLY going after Jacob. We didn't find that out until we asked about a bruise on his butt/upper leg, and he told us that on of them had bitten him.
And yeah I would be all kinds of ticked off too if I was in your situation.
I was, and she found out right quick, too.
This whole story just makes me sick. And sad too. Poor dog.
That and a new outlook on religion...
