It's been 2 days short of a year since last year's State of the Union address, and 2 years minus a day since Pres. Obama made his historic first SOTU on January 24, 2009. It's been a tumultous 2-year journey for the President, who as seen is popularity plunge 25 points in the polls. Tonight, I think, Obama will not only appeal to the American people for their resolve through these tough times, but also thank them for their patience and resilience, even tho' it hasn't always been that way. No doubt, Rep. Giffords will get mentioned in tonight's speech, as she continues on her remarkable road to recovery. He will have to address the economy head-on, since peoples' resolve is wearing thin. In knowing the political climate on this site, I'm sure this question can be considered a hot button, but will you be tuning in tonight?
The importance of tonight's speech is not lost on the people of Massachusetts, as there are numerous watch parties throughout the state. Here's one I was invited to:
On Tuesday, January 25th, President Obama will deliver the annual State of the Union address, sharing his vision for job creation, health care, and more -- issues OFA will continue to organize around all year.
This is an important speech for the nation and for this movement. That's why supporters in Lowell and across the country will be attending watch parties -- and sticking around after to craft the strategy we'll use to support the agenda President Obama will lay out.
Here are the details:
Lowell, MA 01850
When: Tuesday, January 25th
If you can't make that watch party, see if there's another one that's more convenient.
Folks at the Lowell watch party won't just hear from the President and connect with fellow supporters -- they'll also help plan the next steps for OFA MA. After the speech, volunteers will participate in brief strategy sessions to plan local action, and we need your ideas.
The steps we take this year in Lowell and beyond will be a vital part of helping enact the President's agenda. We're determined to make 2011 a year of job growth and remarkable progress, and that starts with all of us on Tuesday.
Attend a watch party and strategy session, and tell us your ideas for the new year:
