Regis Philbin, 79, blindsided co-host Kelly Ripa with the news about his proposed retirement, less than fifteen minutes before going live on the air. breath back. “Live with Regis and Kelly” is something of a partnership, after all.
TMZ sources report that while Kelly was “stunned,” she was not upset. And Regis joked about his own old age creeping on. “There is a time that everything must come to an end for certain people on camera,” he said. “Especially certain old people.” Twirlit reports no set time for the retirement to take place, but sources say he is thinking of ending his role near the end of summer. Regis Philbin has had a long run. Perhaps the time has come.
