Hi, Amber! I am the oldest of six children, my father passed away 15 years ago but my mom is now 80 and lives one mile from me. Next month I will have been married for 40 years. We have two children, a daughter 38 and a son 36. Our daughter was in an auto accident almost 12 years ago and suffered a traumatic brain injury, I have been her full-time caregiver since the accident. I am a retired elementary school teacher and I love to do decorative painting and going to the flea market. I collect quilts and jadite glass and vintage children's shoes and slippers. I live in Pennsylvania.

You're having a hard time of it. You've always been special to me on Gather. You probably didn't know, but you were a real encouragment to me on Gather when I was trying to get more familiar with this site.

I am not on your friend list, but I will share this...I am a Grandma to one and another grand child on the way.

Hi Amber, I am one year older than your mom, but my kids are much younger than you, Sam my oldest is 19 and Danny is 18. I have been married to a wonderful man for almost 23 years and we are very happy. Both my parents are passed on and I miss them every day. I was born and raised in Chicago and we now live south of Chicago in a rural area which we love. I love to fish and ice fish, but oddly enough my sons do not. I love taking photographs of the nature I see when out fishing and my favorite website is Gather. I have been here less than a year and have made many wonderful friends.

Ice fishing sounds so cool. How long does that last? I mean how long does the ice stick around to be able to do that?

Depends on the cold, this year we have very early ice in mid December, and usually to March again depending on the cold.

Hi, Amber. I'm 28 and have been married for almost 6 years now. Our son, Elliott will be 5 next month. My husband is in the Air Force, and we are currently stationed in North Dakota. We are both originally from the Branson/Springfield MO area. I am a SAHM and love it. In addition to our son, we also have two spoiled dogs (Trixie and Snoopie) and are planning on getting a cat after we get home from our Florida vacation in April.

I grew up in a rather large family (child #5 of 6) and all of my siblings still live in Missouri. Only two of my sisters are married, and only one of them has kids (two girls, ages 6 and 9), so unfortunately for my parents, who wanted a bunch of grandkids, none of us decided on a big family. :)

I love Branson, and I have been to Springfield many times. Isn't that where Lambert's is? The famous thrown rolls? My sister used to live in Ellsinore, so we went that way alot.

My thanks go to you and your husband. As an American, I appreciate the sacrifice you all make for being in the military.

Hello Amber! I am 34 and am married with a blended family, we have 5 children ranging in age from 10 to almost 15. We live in Houston, Texas. I have 2 siblings that are 31 and are twins. I am not very close to them as they live in Missouri near one another. I am close to my husband's family which makes up for not having mine here. We have 3 cats, 2 house rabbits, and a dog.

Despite your parents health issues, it must be nice living close to them.

It is nice to live close to them. The only downfall for me, is that I'm the only one in the family who lives near enough to help them. My sister is three hours away, as is the rest of both her family and his. So it's good they have me, but sometimes I get overwhelmed. But I wouldn't have it any other way. If I can be of any help to them, I definitely want to be.

Ages 10-15. That's a lot of teenagers at one time! : )

I am single and have three rescued pit bulls that are my life.

Hi Amber! I am 53 and married, and I live in Las Vegas. I have 4 children, my daughter is 30, my sons are 21, 19 and 10. My 10 year old is the only one still at home. I have 5 siblings, but I'm sad to say my parents have passed. I love photographing birds and doing crafts.

I'm sorry your parents are gone. I know if I lost mine it would hurt terribly.

Fortunately they lived long, happy lives.

I'm glad of that. It really is a comfort to know that when they were alive, they truly lived.

Hi I have a younger sister. I am 38 myself my sister is 31 so there is a age difference between us. She has 2 kids a daughter who is 8 and a son who is 5.

Hi Amber. I'm a little old fluffy grandma who has found Gather to be a charming place to waste time. LOL! I live south of Fort Worth but am preparing to move shortly to an area north of Fort Worth. I'm excited about the move.

I read your profile and you listed that you are single. I've seen your pictures and you are beautiful. I've read your posts and you are a careing and loving person. So I'm just curious as to why you have not married. There aren't any rules that say a person has to be married but I'm just curious as to how you have fought off all the interested young men? Uhhhh, you also don't have to tell me....LOL....I learned a long time ago that if you don't ask then you won't know .... LOL! I forgot to add in my description of me, that I'm nosey! LOL!

Oh don't worry about that. It's just the last person who asked me that was kidding, and I thought they were serious.

You are very nice to say those things about me. I have poor self-esteem to so I appreciate the compliments. : )

I'm not married, I think, mainly because of my health. I went to college early, at 16, and was way too intimidated to be very social. Then, at 18, I had a really bad car accident. Over the next seven years I was in and out of the doctor office, and the hospital sometimes. There was a period of 8 months, when the only place I went was the doctor. Not even church. When I was 25, there was a lull where I was well enough to work. I got asked out by a couple of guys, but they weren't my type. Eventually, I had to quit because of my health. It began to be more than the problems the car accident caused. The last four years I've been on disability, but my time has been spent taking care of my parents for the most part. My mom's mind started to go quite a while ago. My dad has needed so much help. And then this last year, he got cancer. So my time was spent taking care of both of them. I've been asked out by a couple of guys at my apartment complex, and I liked one of them. Then I overheard him cursing someone out, and thought, no way.

As of now, the only place I go that I meet people, is church. And I've yet to meet someone there.

That's probably WAY more info than you wanted, huh. : )

Aww ha! So it's just because the right man hasn't come along. A lot of people just do not want to ever be married because they like being a single person. Church friends are some of the nicest friends that we can make because they are usually on the same belief plan that we live our lives by. I can tell you that if you want to fall in love and get married then God has someone already picked out for you. Ture love will happen for you. Love is just about to walk right smack dab into your life and I think it's going to surprise you.

Thanks for the encouragement, Lee. I do want to get married. In the meantime, I want to take in the lessons God wants me to learn to prepare me for the rest of my life. And hopefully, I'll meet the right guy soon.

I am a Registered Nurse and have been for 36 years.
I live in Florida, but want to move back to New Mexico (my hubby and I love it out west)
I am the third of 4 children. Only two of us are still living.
I am married to an absolutely wonderful man, Ed. He is so good to my kids and grandkids. As far as he is concerned, they are his, too.
I love going to the Hard Rock Casino here in Tampa. The slots are my entertainment.
I have a Welsh Pembroke Corgi named Gator. He is a hoot!
I love coffee of any flavor or kind.

I love New Mexico. I remember when my dad was the main speaker at a camp, and my family went too. We were in the mountains, and the stark beauty was just so peaceful.

My dog Sherlock is 1/4 Corgi. I see it in his short, little legs.

Hi Ambie, we share the bday but not birth year, lol, I will be 49 this year. Married since 2005 living in a small town I love, an almost 4 hour drive or train journey from my old hometown where I still work at the office of Workers Compensation. My mother who is 86 and suffers from a form of dementia too is there so I take care of her for three evenings a week,, Mon to Wed from 6 to 8:30 pm, longer in the summertime when it gets dark later.
I love my Catholic Church and was reconciled in 2002 after years of thinking the grass is greener on the other side.
What more to tell about myself, I am a trained librarian, so I love books, am a bit old fashioned and love snail mail too, writing and receiving it are both a blessing, and I am the total cat person who never was allowed to give a cat a home. My mom dislikes cats so no chance as long as I lived with her then my first apartment was under the roof so I thought too warm for a kitty in summertime and now in this apartment cats and dogs alike are forbidden.
Sooooo I guess I have to wait for a furry companion till retirement and then I will have waited for approx. 56 years for my wish to come true thats a lot of time.

I ,ight be the old lady of the bunch so far. I am divorced, was married 27 years, have 5 grown children ages 45-53, two boys and three girls, have 3 granddaughters and 5 grandsons between the ages of 17-almost 30. Two married grand kids, 3 who are college grads with one still in college. Two grand kids graduating hgh school this year and one who is a junior. I am retired, volunteer in the school near me helping 2nd graders be better readers, sing in two choirs, and do a lot of exercise, gym, and outdoor work. I like to read and write. All that at age 71, not bad huh?

Hello Amber, I have 6 kids 22, 18, 11, 8, 4, and 20 months. I have 2 step daughters 24, 25 and I have been with my husband for 18 years in Feb. but we have only been married 11 years, Due to me beining hit by a drunk driver 15 years ago so that put our wedding on hold.We got married on my jgrandparents wedding anniversary. both his parents are gone. I have my father and step mother who lives about 10 miles from me. Me and my husband are christains we go to church every sunday unless some one is sick. Next year we are getting the flu shot with the kids in school we have had the flu alot. My husband reads the bible every day and he just got baptized. I went to collage in NY at OBI. we live in Pennsylvania and I hate this state. I'm only 20 to 30 miles from the NY state line near Portville NY. I have lived in NC and I have been to Virgina, West Virgina, South Carolina, Tennesee, and Georgia, Ohio, NY, I would love to move back to NC or Tennesee. We have 3 horses 2 cats a male and female, a chow, a betta fish it is the only fish we can keep when the kids get gold fish they all die. my grandmother lives 15 miles from me in a nursing home she just had a stroke and is 103 years old I love her dearly she is the one in my life who taught me of Jesus and what he did for us. She also helped raise me when my dad was a truck driver. I have always been close to them I lost my grandfather her husband in 1988 they was married for over 50 years I think they was married 54 to 56 years when he passed.

I'm married and have a daughter going back to college now. Its sure costly the book fee made me go wow. We are renting 3 of the books and getting many others used. We are located in Southern California.

Amber, you know me, and Bob. Wish we could hear more from you. For others reading, I would say I am 57, widowed once, married thirteen years on the second time. Hubby is "retired" but would take the right job. My adult son lives with us. He has had some trouble the last two or three years. Our hope is that in addition to straightening out his life legally, our prayer would be that he also would get right with God. I have a wonderful daughter just a bit older than you that I admire so much. She lives in Minnesota, with our terrific son in law and two lovely grand girls. She has a ministry degree and so does he. She is working on writing some novels. They moved to Minnesota to give support to an independent church there. I am so glad to have met you once, look to hear from us soon. Heather

Oh Heather, I'm sorry your son is having so much trouble. My mom's brother was raised in a Christian home, but he took a different path too. One that he is only just now thinking of changing.

Hi Amber I live in NJ hence the name jerzegirl. I will be married 34 years this month. I have one son, married & his wife is expecting our first grandson in June of this year. I love this site and the whole Gather thing. I have met some really wonderful ppl on here. I run a Feral Cat Colony. This is a person that has a connection with their town animal control office & a vet's office that gives their time. I take in homeless cats, get they their shots, spayed or neutered & get good homes for them. If they are to far gone to get a home then they stay with me at my house & live out their lives. I have 3 cats living in my home now for the winter & then they will continue to go in & out until it gets cold again. They will stay in my yard which is all fenced in for them. I also just got a new female cat named Neeka. She was thrown out of her home because her owner found fleas on here in late summer. So now that all the fleas have frozen off of her I am trying to get her a fur-ever home. The throw away cats & kittens have turned out to be wonderful animals & I am not sorry for doing this. I love all animals. My husband is retired & I just had to go out on total disabiltiy from a bad back. But we are doing ok. I have been on Gather for a little more than 2 years & love it.

Hey Amber! I am 32, I have a 14 year old boy I am raising on my own. I live in an apartment and work at home doing freelance writing, surveys, ChaCha, make-up, and whatever else pays the bills. I'm resourceful like that. I'm quirky, freak people out until they know me for a while, because I don't smile much. I assure everyone I am smiling on the inside, lol! I have a twisted, but healthy sense of humor. I am originally from the Boston area, but I moved to New Hampshire for the second time about five years ago. I enjoy writing and do it more than most people watch tv. I bite my nails, I've dyed my hair black since I was about 15, and can't stop, although my mother still objects, and have a degree to be an legal administrative assistant that I never used. I'm a beauty school drop-out, too. I tried my hand at that after the degree, years later. It turns out, I'm a super make-up artist, but I stink at cutting hair! Lol. I'm a goofball, but everyone knows that as I am sure you do :)
