Well now folks what are ya'll having for supper? Here we are having deer steak medalions served in a nice sauce with some mashed potatoes and a salad. Cooking up some biscuits to go with it. What are ya'll having?
Oh my gosh, I never even think about what's for supper, until an hour or so prior to eating.......just don't have the time, as I've always got zillions of other, more pressing, things going on to have to deal with. Heck, if nothing else, order out for pizza delivery.....LOL!!!!!
oh how I wish you would dquit telling me you are haveing deer steak. LOL, my husband is cooking tonight because of my bad shoulder we are having BLT's and Bean and Bacon soup.
LOL next time I will try to refrain from adding the "deer". Sorry your shoulder feels bad. I have been craving BLT's but the bacon was too expensive at the grocery store when I went. I plan on going to Sam's this month and it is on my list for then. The bean and bacon soup sounds good too.
I just roasted 4 chickens. They were .59 a pound. I froze 4 containers in broth for later meals. I froze the chicken drumsticks wrapped each separately for the 7 year old for quick meals. Have a whole chicken cooked in the fridge and cooked up the insides with rice and green beans for the dogs. So I guess the short answer is roasted chicken with roasted beets from our garden with Stove Top cornbread stuffing I just got for .47.
OHH Denise that sounds yummy! I remember you telling me about the great chicken sale your local grocer was having. Glad to see you stocked up. I love it when I can stock up and cook up that many meals. I have never had roasted beets before.. how do you cook them? Even your dogs got a great meal!
Roasted beets are so yummy. It really brings out their sweetness. I just cut off the ends and peel them. Cut them up about the size of dice or slice them depending on their size. Toss in olive oil, salt and pepper. Put them in the oven to roast. I do not have a set temp as it depends on whatelse is in the oven. If I have nothing in the oven I throw them in the toaster oven.
I have never ate beets like that. We always grow them and pickle them. I love picked beets. I am going to try this. I always thought that rutabagas would be nasty too until I tried them. They are delicious! Thanks for the heads up!
We do rutabagas the same way. One thing we like to do with rutabagas is add carrots and yams. Dice all 3 and roast in olive oil, salt and a bit of pepper. It is a great mix.
