With the news an Arizona congresswoman was shot & killed today, I have to ask when it is ok for people to cross that line. What message are we as Americans sending out to others? Are we telling them that it is ok to take some one’s life? When they get into court & are found, beyond a reasonable doubt to be guilty of the crime they committed why is it so hard for someone to vote to give them the death penalty?
Do we really want to pay for to let them live their life out in jail? Should we expect our children or grandchildren to accept the debt that we have decided we will pay? Where is it that people do not have to respect the law & they know that if they break the law the consequences are not that bad?
Jail for most of us is not good, but there are people who actually cannot live life if not institutionalized. The people who have either no conscious or regard for the others can bend & make a life in prison.
Where were we when the world started to change its opinion that people who murdered someone with no regard to what the consequences would be or the feelings of family & friends of the murdered person? I cannot understand how so many people expect us to pay these people to live out a life sentence in jail. Since the average age of people committing these acts is much younger than years ago what are they thinking when they cannot agree on the death penalty.
