Miss Nerva's Harvard Beets

Yield: 6 servings
1/2 c White sugar
1/4 Karo corn syrup
4 ts Cornstarch
1/2 ts Cloves ground
1/3 c White vinegar
1/3 c Water
2 ea 15 oz cans sliced beets drained
3 tb Butter
Salt & pepper to taste
Mix sugar, Karo syrup, cornstarch, cloves, vinegar & water.
Bring to a boil then cook for 5 mins.
Add your beets to this liquid then simmer for 30 mins. over low-heat.
Stir in butter, salt & pepper then remove from heat.
Serve warm or chilled.
