Maroon 5's Adam Levine got naked for the UK edition of Cosmo magazine, in an effort to encourage men to get regular screenings for both prostate and testicular cancer.
According to a report from RadarOnline, Levine is shown in the February issue of Cosmo UK wearing nothing whatsoever. Two female hands are strategically placed over Levine's private parts to afford a modicum of decency to the photograph.
Prostate and testicular cancers kill many men in the United States and the UK each year. Regular screenings can prevent many of these deaths, because both of these cancers are curable if detected in the early stages.
When Adam Levine was asked if he felt uncomfortable posing naked for the photo shoot, he laughed, saying he was that way much of the time.
"I spend most of my life naked," Levine says. "In fact, I often have to be told by the people around me that it's inappropriate to be as naked as I am. But I live in California, where it's always warm, so why not?"
Adam Levine certainly makes a fine specimen of a naked man in the magazine issue. His beautifully toned and tattooed body are a sight to behold. But of course there's that airbrushing that often enhances magazine photos. Who knows? Is the Maroon 5 singer as handsome as he appears in print?
Even if he has a flaw or two, Adam Levine should be commended for posing for the shoot, since the photos accompany an article promoting cancer awareness for men. If even one man gets a screening as a result of the article and saves his life in doing so, then Levine's naked body more than served its purpose.
