Snooki Writes a Novel... Who Will Read It?

Snooki, a.k.a. Nicole Polizzi of MTV's Jersey Shore has written a novel. Who do you suppose might read it? Certainly the young woman has a cult-like following on The Jersey Shore, but can enough of them read to make it worthwhile for her publisher?

According to a report from the Post Chronicle, A Shore Thing is presently in book stores, awaiting purchase by consumers... some of them unsuspecting consumers. The title may be deceiving to some if they're not entirely familiar with the fist-pumping "guidette."

A Shore Thing as a title conjures images of a romance on the beach. Perhaps a young widow who needs to get away from it all visits a seaside town and finds solace as well as a new romance. Maybe a couple in the midst of splitting up tries one last time to salvage their relationship, and spends a weekend at the shore in an attempt to hash things out. Readers who pick up this book in hopes of one of these or even a similar scenario will be sorely disappointed.

Those who know and love their Snooki, however, will likely buy the book. But are there really that many of her fans who can actually read? The bump-haired bimbo doesn't exactly exude a wealth of intelligence, whether appearing as a Jersey Shore cast mate or a guest on a talk show. There really isn't an awful lot in Snooki's head, hence there can't be that much in her fan's heads either, right?

It's quite likely that the publisher, Gallery, likely realized that true Snooki fans will buy anything with their icon on the cover, and there she is in all her bumped-up glory. It's a sure fire money maker for them.

A review of Snooki's book on the Amazon.com web site is absolutely hilarious. Written by an A. Martinez "Phesto" from Brooklyn, it reads as follows.

"I had run out of toilet paper and noticed that someone had left a copy of this wonderful book on the floor. Believe me this ain't no Charmin but in a desperate situation it came in quite handy. Thank you Snooki for creating this fun filled emergency bum wipe."

The question truly deserves asking again. "A Shore Thing" by Nicole Snooki Polizzi... who do you think will actually read it?
