A coffee spill ended up diverting a United Airlines flight. The pilot is the one who dumped the cup of joe on his communications gear. The UA flight was from Chicago to Frankfurt, Germany. However, it had to make a landing in Toronto, due to the coffee spill.
The unusual coffee spill actually triggered the plane’s emergency codes – one of them was for hijacking. Wow, that is a scary situation for the plane and authorities to be in. The crew and authorities were in contact, so they were able to confirm that there was no hijacking which is apparently code 7500.
Originally, the plane was going back to Chicago, but it ended up diverting to Pearson International Airport in Toronto on Monday evening. Everything and everybody was okay, but it had to be a bit of a tense situation for a while. Plus, the passengers were certainly inconvenienced by the extra stop. Plus, United Airlines actually ended up flying the entire group back to Chicago and then they flew to Frankfurt on Tuesday. ThatÂ’s a pretty big change of plans. About 255 people were on the plane, when the coffee spill caused the diversion. This situation could have been much worse.
