TCU wins the 2011 Rose Bowl as their amazing defense "Rose" to the occasion and shut down a high octane Wisconsin team, holding them to just 19 points. This undefeated finish by TCU marks the eighth time in the BCS era that an undefeated team has not played for the National Championship.
The reason they were left out of the BCS National Championship Game is because Texas Christian University is not an automatic qualifying BCS college. Out of the last eight times this has happened, only one BCS automatic qualifying school has not made the National Championship, that being the 2004 Auburn Tigers.
All things aside this is still a big day for the Horned frogs as they took a team in the Wisconsin Badgers who scores at will and kept them to a season low in points. Then they capped off an undefeated season with the 2011 Rose Bowl Championship trophy.
The win of the Rose Bowl by TCU ends a horrible day for the Big Ten Conference as they post a 0-5 Bowl game record. Michigan State lost to Alabama, Michigan lost to Mississippi State, Northwestern lost to Texas Tech., Penn State lost to Florida, and cap it off with TCU winning the Rose Bowl over Wisconsin.
