Thank heavens that I don't have to deal with them any longer, but I'm curious to know if you had curfews in your house while the kids were growing up?? And did you have a curfew when you lived at home??
yes I had Curfews when I was a kid even though I really did not need one I stayed home unless I went to my best friends or she came to my house. my older kids only went places where I dropped them off and then I always picked them up, if not I stayed there till they was done. And my older daughter I even drove on her paper route because I could not trust her not to run off and not come home. I even had the police looking for her a time or two. If they went to dances at the school I drove them and I picked them up. she did cheerleading and I drove her and picked her up too the basket ball games I usually stayed at.
I had a curfew of 11pm on school nights and I had to be wherever I was going by midnight on weekends. My parents sort of lucked out with that one. They didn't really have to enforce it as I lived in a planned community that only had 2 entrances/exits and every night at 11pm, about 15 cops would line up and wait for kids to come up late and write them up for it. The parents finally revolted (after having to drive the kids to court, paying fees, etc) since most of the kids weren't actually doing anything wrong, they were just late getting home and the neighboorhood assocation made massive plant beds butting right up against the road so the cops can't sit there any more. (sorry, sore subject).
I did enforce curfews - 9 pm weeknights & 11 on weekends, unless there was a special event. I'm now learning, ten years later, that my son learned how to sneak out, though!
Yes and no.....my kids still haven't pushed the boundries, so we don't have a set curfew. Angela is so involved with dance that she doesn't have time to be out late. Pher is in college, so I can't do anything about him.
DON'T REMEMBER HAVING THEM. When I was going up I had a half hour to get home from school or I got my behind beat. Didn't matter if I was on time or not got beat anyway, Think it was their hobby. Our kids didn't really have curfews.
I never had one at my Dad's house but I did at my Mom's. I had them when my kid's were growing up though. =) They are needed and they need to be inforced. =p
I didn't really have a curfew. I just had to tell my parents an approximate time that I would be home (and if I was later than 30 minutes late I was in BIG trouble!!), and usually they were ok with that. I spent about as much time at my best friend's house as I did at my own house when I was younger, though, and she didn't have a curfew at all, so I guess I could have gotten away with being out later, too. Haha. We were really good kids, though, and were rarely out later than midnight until I had a job where I worked later than that every weekend. :)

My kids never needed curfews. I like to know where they are, just because. My disabled boy had pushed limits. To be expected.... I never had one growing up, when my parents thought of putting one on me they would lock me out of the house and I made sure all the neighbors saw me on the porch, cold, hungry and looking so sad. They stopped that real quick HAHA. Gosh I sure gave my parents a run for their money HAHA
When I lived at home all those years ago - there was a time when we as kids had to disappear up the wooden hill to bed..sometimes it was far too early :-)
Yes I did have curfews I find more parents and grandparents for that matter are not setting curfews , or if they are they are not enforcing. I don't think this is right. They then wonder why things happen that happens. Many communities have curfews for teens. Its disturbing a community has to do what parents should be doing
