Who watched that show Extreme Couponing on TLC last night? Those people were just plain crazy spending that much time tracking down deals, buying coupons, dumpster diving with children to get coupons, and spending hours shopping and stockpiling that much stuff!
There is no way on earth I would want a stockpile big enough to fill up an entire attic, garage, and extra rooms. That was pure insanity! And one couple actually buys extra insurance to cover their stockpile. I admit that I do have a small stockpile of things such as dish detergent, air freshner, etc., but I don't have enough to do for an entire year or more!! And the food. Good lord, do they not realize that food has an expiration date? I could understand the last man on the show who donated all those boxes of cereal to a food bank. But who in their right mind buys 300 toothbrushes. That is more than you could possibly use in 3 lifetimes!
I honestly believe that these four people have a problem not only with extreme couponing, but with hording as well!! I love to use coupons to save money, but they went so far over the top that it was bordering on insanity in my opinion. (And we all know what opinions are worth.)
There is also no way I would spend 6-8 hours on Monday going to 2 grocery stores and 2 drug stores just to wander up and down the aisles to figure out what all is on sale just to go home and spend the next 8 hours going through coupons so I could spend three hours the next day shopping and filling up 9 shopping carts of stuff I don't need or won't use just because I can get it for free, and then spend 2 hours in line doing 2 or 3 transactions because the registers can't handle the thousands of items I am buying nor the thousands of coupons I would use. I just don't have that kind of time on my hands and I only work a part-time job.
