Any Welding Project Ideas?

So i am going to exchange the welder i got for Christmas today and that means i will have one that i can actually use come tonight! so, in light of this, i am trying to think of things that i could make with it!

does anybody out there have any ideas on what i could make? i have seen some neat stuff online, that doesnt look like it would be too bad, but i was just wondering if you guys could think of anything that would be interesting to make.

so....what'cha got?

Ever welded a photo-booth as a piece of art construction? sounds like something you would enjoy doing :-) Try a small model first, then make it a life-size one where you can step in and peek out of the lens area.. :-))

My son makes coffee tables, small key hangers, things like that and he does pretty good at making a little extra cash.

those are some good ideas, now i just need to figure out where to get the metal! lol. im not sure if the scrap yard by me lets you take things...they seem to be more of a recycling place

Yes! a weather vane. Make several, ya know one that may look like a barn and one that may look like a bird.....also, I think you should make a business card holder.

hmmm, good ones. my main issue at the moment is i dont have a torch to cut anything at the moment, so all my cutting will be done with a grinder, meaning any complicated cuts are out of the question for at least a while...sigh...

I love the lawn ornaments made from odds and ends Ryan. They are pretty expensive too so you may be able to make a few bucks. I have a cat made out of nails and other odds and ends and it is really neat. I've seen birdbaths, bird feeders and cute dragonflies too.

thats the sort of stuff i would like to someday make, but i need a few more things before i can really go at it. as of now i have no real means of cutting complex patterns or anything...i need a torch still. but, being out of work means it takes a while to come up with each thing. so...make due with what i have i suppose!

These items don't seem to need cutting actually. They are just odd pieces of "junk" welded together. I'll have to take a photo of my cat. It's odd parts of stuff all welded together.

haha, that is something i plan on doing someday! i just dont have the ability to yet, i need a torch or plasma cutter to do that sort of stuff...i have my eyes on something already that would open up a lot of new doors...but its about 600 bucks! lol

I saw this idea on one website ... Not sure if you're into Western Decor ... Lol

You can create simple western styled bookends, (that are really pretty popular in parts of the country) by welding together two horseshoes at right angles. You can also create a western style toilet paper holder with a horseshoe

I have no idea what to tell you. I don't know anyone who welds. Sounds like an interesting hobby though. What did you decide to do?
