Will Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez have an "American Idol" clash? Will the two be a sobering reminder of Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell of past seasons?
According to a report from MSN, that's not likely to be the case. While Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez have been quite outspoken about each other since they were both announced as judges for the upcoming season of "Idol" it seems like they have only the utmost of respect for each other.
Recent reports that Steven Tyler called Jennifer Lopez "ridiculous" and "street" were misconceived as insults, when in fact the Aerosmith front man meant them purely as complimentary. He does admit that Lopez is far kinder than he will likely be toward contestants, but that he in no way will be following in the footsteps of Simon Cowell.
"I'm really not one for giving insults," he says. "They [the contestants] have a voice and I don't want them not singing to their kids when they grow up."
Steven Tyler's philosophy is in fact quite refreshing. He and Jennifer Lopez may in fact make an admirable set of judges. Add in Randy Jackson's music prowess and "American Idol" might see a panel of judges that really know their stuff.
It's good that Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez won't rehash the roles of Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul. While it was occasionally humorous, it got old pretty quickly, and left Paula looking like an idiot and Simon looking like a bigger bully than he really is. Okay, so Paula looked like an idiot all by herself, but you get the gist of this, right?
It seems that Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez won't have an "American Idol" clash. That leaves viewers wondering what kind of drama will be cooked up on behalf of producers before the next season of the show is set to premiere.
