Morgan Freeman dead hoax

Actor Morgan Freeman is the latest celebrity death hoax to hit the internet.

The famed actor is not dead and the rumor was started by someone on Twitter who clearly has too much time on his hands. The Twitter culprit sent out a fake "Retweet" (a repeat of what someone else tweets) that read: "RT @CNN: Breaking News: actor Morgan Freeman has passed away in his Burbank home << wow legendary actor #RIPmorganfreeman" (via PopEater).

This tweet spread like wildfire on Twitter and in a matter of minutes, hundreds of people thought that Morgan Freeman was dead. No one went to check CNN right away which caused the rumor to get even bigger.

Of course this happens a lot of times and it's truly amazing how things spread on the internet. Now with social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook, it's so much easier for rumors to be spread. Morgan Freeman is the latest celebrity to have a rumor spread about him, and thankfully it's only just a rumor!
