Is French Vogue Magazine Sexualizing Girls At...

The latest edition of French Vogue magazine has some people up in arms, and rightly so it would seem. What seems to be the hurry with making young girls appear much older than they are? Especially pre-teen girls? This has for some strange reason become all the rage in some very well known magazines, and the most current edition of French Vogue magazine is the latest to push the envelope.

This is wrong in so many ways. To dress up a young girl for playful reasons, Halloween or just for fun with their friends is one thing, but French Vogue magazine's latest spread for children in fashion borders too close to being sexual. Even just the facial expressions on these young girls faces look like they are thirty years old, not seven!

According to fashion news -- "The 15-page feature about Christmas gifts, ' Cadeaux ', shows the 'model-ettes' dressed up to the nine-teens, their hair styled in glamorous 'up' do's and chignons, or tumbling in curls around their shoulders; their naive attempts at a smouldering gaze disconcertingly adult and at odds with their baby-face complexions, albeit these are enhanced with blusher, lipstick and blue and green eyeshadow."

If the idea of this fashion shoot was to get people talking, well French Vogue magazine has done it's job. Take a look at the photo spread and decide for yourself.

More parents need to keep Dora the Explorer in mind for their 7 year old, not America's Next Top Model!

i can't stand to think of the girls and boys watching lady gaga. i can't stand that woman or her sadomasochistic music videos, group sex scenes, drugs and murder. funny, ha ha. yeah right!

Laura, it's not just Lady Gaga. We as OLDER WOMEN need to look at ourselves as well. Are we any better than the celebriwomen? We can be just as raunchy as they can be and we feel as tho we have a right to be cuz we're grown, but girls emulate what they see.

Great point Wikked Lady! Raunchy is good, just leave it to the adults!! :) Kids are growing up to fast now a days....WAY TO FAST!! Let the kids be kids....they will be adults quick enough as it is!!

I think this issue is Vogue is awful...It sends the wrong message to kids in so many ways!

I definitely do not agree with it, but Europeans are different from us in America. Esp. the French. Here in town, the French nurse openly and nobody says anything. But I think a lot of the world is behind where we are in terms of realizing what is appropriate and not. We often get written up as too prudish and also the opposite of too prudish.

Actually, they're ahead of the U. S. The innate puritanism within the U. S. is still a binding chain here, culturally.

I had ESL students from France last year and asked if it was okay for me to give ther 12 year old daughter the titles of Lady Gaga's songs. They said, of course. I said, have you listened? We here in the US thin they are a bit mature. Oh we are not worried about that.

France had a tourist poster with naked breasts and the US complained so it had to cover up the poster. French are not the same. Or we are not the same. Whatever.

I am far from a prude myself....and Breast feeding in public is something all together different, I don't think that's a bad thing.....

I just don't think it's right in ANY culture to make a 7 or 8 year old look like an object!!
