WABC-TV weather anchor Heidi Jones gave the false police report last month. According to Jones, she told police that she was attacked by a Hispanic man in Central Park. She said the man attempted to rape her. After that, she also reported that the man had harassed her over the telephone. However, now Jones has admitted that she fabricated both of the false police reports. Why would she do something like this?
Reasons Police Felt Weather Anchor's Police Report Was False
Part of the reason police began to question JonesÂ’ report is because the details were not consistent. Also, there were no other witnesses to the crime. Finally, it seemed odd that the weather anchor had waited two months to report the attempted rape.
Why Would Heidi Jones Lie About Attempted Rape?
Part of the reason Jones may have fabricated the story is that she was trying to get some sympathy. Apparently she has been having difficulty in her personal life. It seems like she has some serious issues, and now to further complicate her personal life, the TV weather anchor has been charged with two counts of providing a false police report. If Jones is convicted on these charges, she could serve up to a year in jail or pay a $1,000 fine.
It is so sad that Heidi Jones submitted false police reports. She must really be having difficulties if she felt the need to create a false story of attempted rape just to gain some sympathy. Hopefully she will get some help because she obviously needs some.
