Teen singing sensation and tween heartthrob Justin Bieber has been cleared of all wrongdoing in a laser tag assault case that took place in Richmond, British Columbia back in October.
According to a report from MSN, a 12-year-old boy who was playing laser tag at the same time Justin Bieber was, accused Bieber of punching him.
From the very beginning this smelled like a case of "celebrity scam," as it immediately appeared to be an opportunist taking advantage of a celebrity. The scenario could have been perfect had the accuser likely not known Justin Bieber was going to be there in the first place. What may have happened is that once the 12-year-old boy or his parents realized he was playing laser tag inside of the same facility with pop phenom Justin Bieber, the wheels started turning and didn't stop until they landed on dollar signs. They could have figured that Bieber's people would pay them to shut up and not make a stink about a purported assault. It seems the tables turned, however, and the authorities determined that no actual assault ever took place.
Captain Turley of the Richmond Royal Canadian Mounted Police issued the following statement with regard to the investigation they performed after Justin Bieber reportedly assaulted the 12-year-old boy.
"This investigation into the incident is now complete and no charges will be forwarded as the evidence collected (doesn't) support doing so," Captain Turley said.
Witnesses at the laser tag facility told law enforcement officials that it was actually Justin Bieber who had been harassed while playing laser tag, and not the alleged accuser. They said Bieber was clearly being tormented due to his celebrity status.
It sounds like the law handled the situation with Justin Bieber and his accuser admirably. It's sad that some people lie in hopes of getting money, attention, or both at the expense of these celebrities. From all media reports available, Justin Bieber was simply minding his own business and playing laser tag, and the other boy was clearly trying to start some kind of trouble.
Congratulations and a big sigh of relief to and for Justin Bieber now that his laser tag assault accusation has been deemed a big fat nothing in the eyes of the law.
