Jennifer Grey is recovering from a back injury she suffered during the finals of Dancing With The Stars last month. The actress, best known for her role in late 80s film Dirty Dancing, injured her back during part one of the finale for the reality series. She had a ruptured disc in her back, and it looked like she might not even be able to take part in the second half of the finale with her two final performances.
Jennifer Grey managed to undergo treatment that day, and she danced twice more before she was crowned champion of DWTS season 11 on November 21st. She stole the show with her performances for the finale, and she was the celebrity favored to win the competition from week one when she scored the highest points for her tribute to her Dirty Dancing co-star, Patrick Swayze. He died of cancer two years ago.
The actress had her ups and downs during the season, but she managed to come out on top and win. Brandy was also favored to win, but she was eliminated the week before the finale in what was controversial season for Dancing With The Stars. The controversy is now behind the series, and ABC is looking forward to season twelve which will hit the network in March. ABC tried to sign on such stars as Lindsay Lohan and Portia de Rossi, but both turned down the opportunity to appear on the reality competition. ABC had hoped Portia would be the first half of a same sex couple for the series, but she was not remotely interested.
As for Jennifer Grey, the surgery she had to repair the damage to her spine was a success. Dr. Robert S. Bray Jr. said he removed a "huge fragment" from her back during the operation last week. That took place on December 10th. It is good to hear Jennifer Grey is recovering from her operation. Wouldn't feel right to have won and then have a back injury for the rest of her life. She injured her spine during a car accident in the 1980s, and she has had problems ever since. Best of luck to her in her continued recovery. Go here for all the latest "DWTS" news.
