Things have been hectic, but in a positive way. All thanks to the silly Gather virus last month. After getting the stupid thing twice, I signed off, and stayed off, for a week. I noticed a big drop in email notifications too, about new posts. Until I got a non-gather message that the problem was fixed. Even afterwards, it seems Gather now protects itself, and must pre-scan every page for viruses. Which makes my page-loading extremely slow. So, you just view less I guess.
But by then I was busy ......... accomplishing a few things beyond Gather's 10¢/hr. It gave me the ambition to start updating the family history web site. Lots of new goodies had been lying in the pile of notes over the last 4 years. In addition, a big bonanza came forth. My Aunt's family (1887) had been blank since day one, 10 years ago. The end of a long story during this time is, I got to go meet one of my Aunt's Grandsons. A great experience. Yikes, he provided me with a complete family tree for the family. Wow. Dear ol' Auntie has got 80 descendents! That was amazing to see. And, for the first time, I saw pictures of her.
To top it off, I also received a complete family tree for Auntie's husband .......... that was another 200 people. Gadzooks! That's almost 300 names to digest. Now knowing exactly who everyone was, searches started producing birth/death/marriage documents. Once making sure I had everyone in order, it was time to start entering data in the family tree program. Lots of clacking keys. From there, I could generate reports which could be converted into web pages. I still use HTML code to create a web page. (Don't ever use WORD to make a web page document, it is horrible and disgusting.)
The basics are done. The web site is now completely redesigned (on my computer). Next is to do a "test run" to make sure everything needed is in the folder, and that the links all work to the correct new address/file names. By adding Auntie's family, we now have a first time COMPLETE listing of direct descendents, from 1750 to present.
I've been at this mess since 2:30AM today. 3 hr sleep was enough. Besides, the weather outside is a frightfully frigid, howling winter storm.
Looks like my Holiday Gift to family (and the world), will be the ability to click the mouse and see all this wonderful new information. It HAS to be completed in order to make Sant's sleigh.
Thanks for stopping. No beach, so you won't see me anyway!

As for Genealogy, years ago my Dad got obsessed about it and it was cool driving around to cemeteries and seeing long lost relatives. That was before computers and much more fun. I tried looking up some roots online, but everyone wants money to do anything and I can't afford it.
