The Soho House hotel in the Meatpacking District of NYC was the scene of the death of fashion designer Sylvie Cachay. She was originally from Peru and died at age 33. The Soho House is a ritzy, six-story hotel located near Ninth Avenue and 14th Street. It is both a hotel and a private club.

Nicholas Brooks Rented Room Where Woman was Found Dead
The woman who died was found in a hotel room that was rented by Nicholas Brooks, age 26. The name of the victim, age 33, has not yet been released to the public, pending official notification of her family.
The guest in the room below the murder scene notified the 911 emergency line that water was dripping down into their room from the ceiling. Hotel workers then found the crime scene and notified the police, notes the NY Post.
The woman's body was found fully dressed and resting in a bathtub with the water faucet turned on. No one else was in the room with the woman when the body was found.
Nicholas Brooks is a son of Joseph Brooks, famous for writing the song “You Light Up My Life.†The young Mr. Brooks is now at the police station in the 6th Precinct to talk with the police about the woman found dead in a room he rented. The woman found dead had entered the room on Wednesday, reports the NY Post.
Body Discovered at 3 AM
The body was discovered at about 3 a.m. No trauma was found on her body. The cause of death has not yet been identified. She could have died naturally or perhaps drug use was in play. Or is there something darker going on in this odd incident?
The NY Daily News reports that a guest staying at the Soho House, Jim Southwell, said he heard shouts of a woman speaking Russian. “Don’t do it. Don’t do it.† He did not see anything related to the woman’s death.
