Michael C. Hall, best known for playing internally tortured serial killer Dexter Morgan on Showtime's 'Dexter' visited Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday.
Fallon spent most of the interview doing what anyone in the presence of 'Dexter' should be doing - freaking out about how good his show is. Â Fallon acted like a genuine fan, and even lamented about how a co-worker spoiled the ending to Season 4's epic season finale prior to him watching it. Fallon has yet to watch the episode out of protest.
Hall spoke also about his history on the broadway stage, and Fallon broke out an old photo of Hall as the black leather-clad S & M bartender in Cabaret. Â Hall's no stranger to playing gay characters (he played one in Six Feet Under), and joked that his family was ecstatic when they learned that he'd be "killing men instead of kissing them."
Fallon then "spontaneously" asked Hall what he believed Dexter's favorite Christmas song would be. Â Hall landed on "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," because he believed it would have some sort of deeper meaning to Dexter. Â Fallon handed Hall a mic, and the audience listened to Hall belt out a Dexter-fied version of 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town" (He's making a list, he's checking it twice, he's gonna find out who's cheek he will slice).
For anyone who watches 'Dexter' regularly, it was extremely strange seeing this normally introverted murderer sing Christmas tunes, but it also was a reminder of how multi-faceted of a performer Michael C. Hall truly is.
