The FBI issued a warning about a Barbie doll that may be used in child pornography cases. The doll itself is not a danger, but the FBI warns if law enforcement is working a case, and they find this Barbie, the doll may hold clues to child porn.
Mattel's Barbie doll is not the problem, but how she may be used may be. The doll contains two cameras that are video recorders. So imagine what may be recorded if a pedophile is in the room?
On a less ominous note, can you imagine your child walking around the house recording what you say and do? Some of your most private moments may be recorded on your child's Barbie doll, and replayed at school.
What do you think of this? It seems harmless enough, but after the FBI expressed concerns, it may give you pause as to what you put under this year's Christmas tree this year.

What is the special emphasis on child molesters all about? It's about the marketing of fear. What is the reality? Tech keeps on encroaching into the future. Expect more creepy developments like this as the miniaturization of A/V continues. One day not an inch of this world will be beyond scrutiny.
predators everywhere.....they didn't know before either; BUT you just gave the rotten ba$tard$ a "great idea"! ...rick I agree with you!
It would be more useful to put a camera in a toilet to make sure yer butt's clean, but why store the images or transmit them. Where does all this idiocy end?
What if a nursery school teacher put this in the barbie box for kids to play with, turned the camera on, and got things "under cover?" Just a thought.
On the one hand, child porn, sure. On the other hand, a child could capture a crime happening in the home, and take the barbie to the police with evidence.
On yet another hand, some devious little kid might be displeased with her parents, put their actions on video, and go tell Grandma! LOL When I was little, that was always my line. "be nice, or I'll tell Grandma." LOL LOL
It may be out of your hands, but only God knows what someone else may do with it. I don't think I'd want that kind of responsibility, when giving a gift to a child.
I am really baffled by what people call 'toys' today: the only thing they're good for is being flashy and gadgety, and enforcing outdated gender roles.
We are even led to accept these objects as symbols for our identity ... or is the symbol really me?! - I get so confused!
Look at how the automobile industry works. The Greenies in their Prius'. The 'Situations' and 'Snookis' with their hot-rods & crotch-rockets. Us rugged Individualist Frontiersman types in our 4x4, off-road, deep-woods vehicles ... and the closest we get to Nature is commuting through the primeval urban jungle.
It's spooky.
