CNN & Dr. Drew are the latest to partner up in the television world. Dr. Drew has snagged himself a primetime spot on CNN's HLN network with a new show. Scot Safron, executive vice president with HLN made the announcement of the new series on Monday. Dr. Drew will talk about on a variety of subjects on a nightly basis.
For those not in the know when it comes to Dr. Drew Pinsky, here is what you need to know. Dr. Drew has been the voice on Loveline since 1984. He takes calls, answering questions about health, sex and relationships for whoever calls in. The show, based out of Los Angeles and KROQ, is syndicated around the country, and it receives a world wide audience via the Internet. On television, Dr. Drew is the man behind VH1's Celebrity Rehab. He has been trying to get a fourth season of that series on air since earlier this year.
This means he is no stranger to television at all! Dr. Drew said the following about his new show on HLN, according to The Hollywood Reporter: "I am thrilled to join HLN and I have no doubt that the natural fit I feel at the network will provide the opportunity to explore the stories behind the story and really explain the choices that people make."
Dr. Drew has always been interesting to listen to. He has a way of reaching all ages with his insight. On his radio show, Loveline, he is in touch with the younger crowd, and he also manages to make connections with celebrities via the radio station and bring them on air with him as well. He keeps up with the times and what is happening in the world while helping out the people that call in for advice.
This new series should only broaden that. He will cover news and other topics of the day and try to reach an even larger audience. The series should be interesting to see, and it looks like it might just be an ideal fit for HLN. The network only seems to be broadening into more original programming instead of straight news 24/7.
