Monday, November 29th will officially mark Cyber Monday 2010, a recently created online shopping day. Web retailer Amazon.com will be offering Cyber Monday sales and deals for a full week. Amazon is joining into the holiday shopping spirit, as many other competing sites have already been unveiling deals starting Sunday which will run the length of this "Cyber week." Walmart is among one of those competitors offering a week of sales, while Target and Best Buy start Cyber Monday tomorrow.
On the Amazon Cyber Monday deals page are sales specials in all categories across the site including tools, electronics, books, toys, DVD's, Blu-rays, and of course electronics. Recent Cyber Monday Lightning deals included copies of "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" DVD for just $3.49 and a Schwinn 17-Function Bike computer at $9.99.Â
As for the electronics deals you'll find a blu-ray disc player under $80, a 14 megapixel digital camera for $99.00 and a Canon Laser Printer for under $100. The toys section reveals a special Barbie Toy Story 3 doll for $7.99, the Toy Story 3 Operation game for $15 and the K'Nex Lava Launch Coaster for $39.00.
Probably one of the hidden gems on Amazon right now is their hot MP3 music sale on digital download music. Amazon has discounted a wide variety of their MP3 albums to as low as $1.99. This is definitely a price slash aimed at Apple iTunes, where most MP3 songs will run you $.99 to $1.29. Amazon offers full length albums including albums from top artists like Pink Floyd, Lady Gaga, John Mayer, Weezer, The Roots, Jack Johnson and even a 99 track Christmas Essentials album, all for just $1.99. Other top albums like Kanye West, Beyonce and Rihanna are priced for $5.00 or less.
There are definitely a lot of Cyber Monday sales and deals to be had if you search them out. However, you have to wonder who is benefiting most, the giver or the receiver? It's already been reported that many Black Friday shoppers spent more money on themselves finding items on the big retail holiday. Will Cyber Monday be the same deal, or will consumers be buying gifts for others?
