Was that you, God?
I felt some gentle breezes blow
Accross my garden this day
Why, that’s the voice of God!
I’ve heard some others say
But then a small and gentle dove
Landed upon my gated fence
Is this a message sent my way?
From a God who lives up hence
Then I heard some thunder roll
I saw bright flashes in the sky
Now he has my full attention
But it’s not him - the angels cry
You can sense his presence
You will know that he is there
In things that are around you
In the caring of those who share
You see him in a baby’s face
He’s in the one who’s helping
With orphans and the homeless
Just look for him in all the giving
Does God have to have a face?
I don’t think he does, do you?
I’ve decided that the God above
Is found in things we say and do
