It was only a matter of time before the villain for the new Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, was revealed. Speculation was rampant. Who would it be? The Penguin? Harley Quinn? Man-Bat? Egghead?
Well, the waiting is over, and we have an answer. The Sun is reporting that British actor Tom Hardy will be playing Dr. Hugo Strange.
Tom Hardy should be no stranger to the legions of fanboys out there, after portraying Shinzon in 2002’s Star Trek: Nemesis and Eames in this year’s Inception. But who the hell is Doctor Hugo Strange?
According to a Batman wiki, Hugo Strange “is an insane psychologist and chemical genius who knows Batman’s secret identity and lusts to take the identity for himself.†In some iterations, Strange uses insane patients from Arkham Asylum and turns them into monstrous, mindless super-zombies.
That’s it? That’s the super-villain we have to look forward to? This guy was a cooler choice than The Penguin?
