With the upcoming tour, featuring New Kids On The Block and the Backstreet Boys, will fans of two of the biggest boy bands see a rivalry, unlike any seen before, between the two giants? One would expect the bands to not be able to get along, let alone share the limelight and the screaming gaggle of female fans, but could fans be in for a surprise?
According to MTV, Jordon Knight says there will be no rivalry, but instead a collaboration between the two bands. "I think a lot of people, when they hear New Kids are going on tour with the Backstreet Boys, they think we're gonna, like, [face] off; we're gonna be some kind of rivalry. But that's not the case. They're gonna see tonight onstage that it's a collaboration, that we get along ... and you'll see it on our performance," Knight said in the interview.
Can it work though? There was only one way to find out. New Kids on the Block and The Backstreet Boys took to the stage at the American Music Awards, to give fans a sample of what they are going to get on next summers tour. At times voices seemed strained, but when the two groups belted out the harmony together, they were incredible. The medley of many of their famous tunes had the audience clapping and screaming. It seems that we may have a new invasion instead of a reunion. Given that we weren't fans of either band during their hay-day, saying they were incredible isn't something we say lightly. Don't take our word for it. Watch the performance in the video below.
