Cut Down on That Heating Bill Hint

I recently read a hint on cutting down on the heating bill.

First you need to take a look under your switch plate and outlet covers. No insulation? Than you have cold air leaking in from outside. Espically if an outlet is located on an exterior wall, thus driving your heating bill up.

To plug the draft, insert foam insulated gaskets in the outlet and under switch plates. For outlet covers, buy those child safety plugs to ensure a leaky proof seal!!

I was amazed to find how many I had to seal up in the old trailor I am renting. But not surprised.

Thanks for the tip. I know I need to replace the insulation strip by the back door. We've really been careful about keeping our central unit off, but it's still for A/C, rather than heat! The need for heat will come soon . . . .
The need for heat is already here in my area.

I've done that for years, but I use the expanding plastic foam that will seal all around the outlets.

you know we have three of them fireplace looking heaters, we seal up the windows also yet with them heater we dont use alot of gas to heat,,I can safely say our heating of our house is less then 65 bucks a month in the winter
