I have Panda Security so I am not affected. Since I use Google Chrome, instead of Internet Explorer, I have not got this
virus again. Â Make sure your computer is in Safe Mode with
Networking before you do anything to remove a virus.
I also use Superantispyware Free Edition.
Scans and removes viruses, adware and malware.
Also try this as a Thinkpoint removal tool :
http://www.myantispyware.com/2010/10/18/how-to-remove-thinkpoint-uninstall-instructions/
Â
or

or this :

Make sure you restart your computer in Safe Mode with Networking, before you download and scan to remove the virus.
( To start is Safe Mode with Networking : restart computer, hold down F8 key until the screen comes up, choose Safe Mode with Networking and then hit enter)
As soon as you log in to Windows, hit Ctrl+Alt+Del,
go to Processes and look for hotfix.exe' and click End Process.
Then go on file, new task and type in ‘explorer.exe’ to get to the internet,
(If an error message comes up then instead type in 'C:\Windows\explorer.exe" /G Everyone:F' enter that then try 'explorer.exe)
Now download this, to scan your computer, it’s the best virus remover you can get for free http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebyt…
(If link doesn't work type 'malware' in the search box and click on the first one ''malware bytes'')
It’s a reputable website that my internet company uses and this has helped me tons of times before. Download it and run it (it’s free) (you might have to disable your pop up blocker at the top of the screen when downloading)
Perform quick scan (should take 10 to 20 mins)

Remove allÂ
(CLICK NO TO RESTART COMPUTER)
Go on quarantine (4th from the right column)
Then delete allÂ
Then restart your comp in normal mode.
Â
I hope this helps =)

it is a bad virus and it is not too hard to remove once u put your computer in safe mode with networking.
Most Virus Protection does not find it.
To see if ur computer is infected :
Open Windows Task Manager = CTRL+ALT+DEL
and open Processes : Look for Thinkpoint or hotfix.exe.
click on that and then end process.
You will need to scan with spyware/virus removal.
I use Panda, and I still got infected thru Internet Explorer,
so I use Google Chrome and never got it again.
I got a warning from Mcafeee before it started acting up.
I just removed it useing the instructions given on the remove website.
once i removed it and then ran all my cans it was gone.
havent had a problem since.
For my battle I went directly into DOS, first time in a decade, but remembered enough DOS shortcuts, commands and algorithyms to finally win the battle. It is a nasty experience and I pray that your readers do not have to encounter it.
If I get it again I do prefer not to spend an hour inside of DOS so I am printing your article.
Thank you.
