Rapper Kanye West had a semi-intense sit down with The Today Show host Matt Lauer. The interview aired on Thursday and is making headlines for a few different reasons.
West, who tends to not think before he speaks, issued an almost apology to former President George Bush, when Lauer asked him about when West called him a "racist." West claims he was "put on the spot" and wasn't very happy about it afterward.
"I want you guys to look at that footage and start to put everything together now. It's very simple to call someone angry or spoiled or the one thousand names I've been called, but it's harder to try to take a look at what's really behind the curtain. I'm so happy that my real fans are not as 'basic' as the media makes them out to be. Did you see them try to justify playing the audio [of the VMA altercation with Taylor Swift] under my interview? Yo, sometimes you're just wrong and it ain't nothing you can say to justify it. Believe me, I know!" West said in a series of tweets.
Matt Lauer had to have known that there would be an issue with Kanye West. Even though West says he's "over it" and he's "promoting love," drama just seems to follow him around. Of course Lauer would have West on the show for an interview after his interview with President Bush and sometimes you create problems or solve them but often it will get you in more hot water. But who is in hot water after this interview? Matt Lauer or Kanye West?
