Kanye West concerts are usually hot tickets, but fans and non-fans were treated to a free Kanye West performance while aboard a Delta Airlines flight from Minneapolis to NYC on Nov. 5.
But, were Kanye West’s plane raps a plain slap in the face to Taylor Swift, who recently performed inside the Jet Blue terminal at Kennedy International Airport?
According to Hollywood Life, maybe so. No stranger to controversy and shock-and-awe tactics, Kanye West definitely does not fly under the radar. Perhaps Kanye (and his inflated ego) wanted to stage a personal answer to Taylor Swift’s airport debut.
It all started when Kanye West got up from his Delta first-class seat and took to the plane’s loud speaker about 30 minutes after take-off. Kanye proceeded to rap censored versions of “The Good Life†and “Gold Digger.†Check out the video below for an audio of Kanye West’s impromptu in-the-sky renditions.
A passenger on board the Kanye West concert flight said that Kanye “couldn’t decide if he wanted to do ‘The Good Life’ or ‘Gold Digger,’ so he was like, ‘I’ll just do a little bit of both.’ It was awesome…but I still have not idea how he got into the cockpit.â€
So Kanye West fans scored a veritable music jackpot during their trip to NYC, with the rapper’s presence on the plane and his surprise performance. Surely, Kanye was just treating the airline and its passengers to a freebie performance - out of the goodness of his rapper heart. Or, maybe he was bored and had already finished his pretzels and Diet Coke. But, knowing Kanye’s history, there’s more to read between the rap lines here.
