Before Trick or Treating, one needs lots of energy. Gotta keep the energy high for running and screaming "Trick or Treat!"
What better way to get that spooky energy than by a Mummy Meatloaf?
Start with your favorite meatloaf recipe and shape into a mummy with his arms crossed.

Bake your meatloaf according to your recipe. While cooking the meatloaf, cut 1 inch strips of while American cheese and set aside.
Once the meatloaf is baked, remove from oven and turn the oven off. Lay the cheese slices across your mummy to resemble strips of cloth. Leave a small space on the head to place the eyes. You can use whatever you like for the eyes, but I used black beans.
Once the mummy is covered with cheese, place it back in the warm oven to slightly melt and set the cheese.

How about some Swamp Monsters that your little ones will love to eat? Make a batch of Mac and Cheese. Spray a muffin pan with non-stick spray and fill the muffin cups with the Mac and Cheese. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 25 minutes or until the mac and cheese has set and become a little firm. Remove from the pan and place each "monster" on a bed of greens. We used collard greens. Top the monster with eyes and watch the kids devour them.

Once the tummies are full, then it is time for Trick or Treating.
This year, Dominic was Jason Voorhees from the Friday 13th movies.

And Zoe was "Sleepy Girl Zombie."

We had a lot of fun this Halloween and hoped you did too!

Loved how you did this. I actually thought when I saw the photo that you covered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes until I clicked on the article... but then it would have been a ghost, not a mummy.
You are so creative... I liked the swamp monsters too, I bet it all tasted good.
The kids were so cute too in their costumes. Bet they always have fun at your house!!!
