J. A. Jance - My author find for 2010

Every year I seem to find an author that had been around for awhile.  But I have never read them. In the past I discover writers like Lois McMaster Bujold, Tony Hillerman, Brian Lumley, to name a few.

This year I am very happy to find J. A. Jance. She has written two terrific mystery/polices series. The first is Seattle Police Department officer J. P. Beaumont. I had this triple hardbound novels, sitting on my shelf for years. I needed something to read and just devour it. Not a real mystery, more along the lines of a police procedural (like the 87th Precinct novels.) But she knows how to write characters that make you want to know them and care about.

So far I have read #1 Until Proven Guilty (1985) , #2 Injustice for All (1986) ,#3 Trial by Fury and(1986),#4 Taking the Fifth (1987).

I read the first three and found out there is 17 more is this series. But I couldn't find them right away. I did find her other series , Arizona small-town sheriff Joanna Brady. A young mother who husband got killed in the line of duty, decided to run for the sheriff position that her husband was running for. This series grab me in better. She know how to write about small towns, families, and the south-western part of USA. ( Reminds me a little of Tony Hillermans' books.)

Of this series I have read #1 Desert Heat (1993),#2 Tombstone Courage (1995),#3 Shoot/Don't Shoot (1996) and #4 Dead to Rights (1997).


Both are must reads for mystery/police readers. These character will become part of your life. Get them and read.
