How do I clean up my "startup" taskbar now?

Use the startup program 'msconfig.exe' and tick off the items you don't want or need running :-) Good luck - :-)

Hi Cathie. It is normal for anti-virus programs to show up in your system tray, which is the icons by your clock. In Windows 7, you can "hide" the ones you don't want to display. I think Vista has a similar feature. You don't have to worry about the icon itself slowing down your computer, as anti-virus programs will cause some machines to take longer to boot. This is normal. If you have 2GB or less of RAM, then you may want to consider upgrading to 4GB instead. Hope this helps!

Thanks, Jeff. I had AVG running all the time and Kevin told me to have more to run randomly when I choose but I couldn't figure out how to get them off so my computer would speed up a bit.
