As always, I post the deadlines to each contest in bold red color. Always scan the post for those deadlines so you don't miss any contests. Gather has some amazing contests in progress right now.

I promised to inform and delight you with the information and links to a Gather member who draws amazing pictures. Well the suspense is coming to an end. Here is the information I promised:

Â
Meet
DesertDarlene L. (desertdarlene)
Darlene drew her icon. She is a bird lover and the Kill Deer is one of her favorite birds.Â
Here are some links where you can see what art I've posted here on Gather since I've been a member.
This first link has both photos and art, but there are four paintings in this album:
This next album has a lot of Darlene's  artwork from a couple years ago:
A couple of cartoons Darlene is currently  working on. Darlene is  new to cartooning, so she says they are not her  best work
Cartoon 2.
Following is some more of her  artwork:

THE NOVEMBER CHALLENGE FOR THE MODELS AMONG US GROUP

Due to the upcoming busy season, the owner of the group Models Among Us, Renda B has decided to make the challenges be once a month instead of twice a month. Maybe by having a full month, there will be more participation in the group. If you are not a member of Models Among Us,  please feel free to join us.
Remember these challenges are NOT limited to photos. The entries can be stories, photos, photo essays, drawings, or graphics. It just needs to pertain to the subject matter
I am sure we will be seeing our share of Thanksgiving and Autumn related posts and photos here on Gather. So for a bit of a change, Renda has  chosen PATHWAYS as our new model for the month.
Guidelines:
Submit your photos, images, stories, poems, etc. to the group by midnight (central time) November 30th.
Tag your submissions with:Â models among us, models, life, pathways
Please only submit a total of five entries. These can be 5 photos/images or 5 posts or a combination which totals five (i.e. 3 photos, 2 poems). If you submit more than 5, I will accept the first 5 and decline the rest.
Your submissions should be relatively new. I would like to see things not previously posted on Gather. Try to make sure your submissions are no older than 6 months.
Be creative. Your submissions can be photo essays, stories, poems, photographs, drawings, and other artwork.
Have fun!!!

GENRE CREATIVES GROUP  CHALLENGE FOR NOVEMBER - WRITING - PHOTO

| Â | November Genre Creative Challenge's and Judges |
Â
From Lynn P Your writing Challenge Judge. Give and Take Are you tired of it yet? Democrats and Republicans? Rich and poor? Good and evil? Right and wrong? It's as if there is no middle anymore. As if we're so divided, the other half is pure evil. Is it? Am I crazy enough to keep writing about politics when the election in America is tomorrow? I'm crazy. I'm not that crazy. But there are opposites all around us. We might even be living with opposites. Hard to believe anymore, isn't it? Opposites meeting in the middle and connecting? Can you think of any examples? Can you dream of such a thing? Good. That's the idea. Write a story, poem, fiction, nonfiction, any genre, with two (or more) complete opposites, whether people, creatures, objects, or ideas. And then have some meeting in the middle. Make some connection. Give some common ground. It's time we bring back give and take. Write on! As usual - poetry limit is 34 lines. Story limit is three chapters with no more than 1500 words per chapter. And according to Genre Creative Challenge Group policy (and my personal preferences), please keep it so you don't need to add the Adult Content filters. (If you'd let children or your conservative grandparents read it, it fits. lol) For the photography part from Digital Diva. S I like the idea of - things you can't live without. So the challenge will be THE GADGET YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT. Everyone should make a list of things you can't live without. In this modern age there are a lot of things to choose from. Choose three and take some photos of them being as creative as you can and share that with all of us. Â ********************** Â Â |

Did you have an opportunity to check out Darlene's drawings and paintings?
Thanks Connie.
Yes, there is a lot going on around the community now. It is holiday season!
This time of year is always harder on those who have lost loved ones or are homeless even more. There are more suicides during holiday season that any other time of year.
I am so tired, but I can't sleep......tonight I just don't feel that great. I HATE this.
It is always good to see you. Is that a new icon you are sporting there? Who might that be?
I plan to fix my "Good Morning" posts today. I ran into a problem where my new posts screwed up the old ones, so I had to remove the old posts.
Lynn's ''challenge' looks interesting. As a writer of social commentary/literary fiction my work often presents conflicting points of view. I almost say this is what a writer of social commentary/literary fiction does.
"I am so impressed with how good you are at different points of view in your stories. The ability to get into a characters head - male or female - disturbed or not. That it the hallmark of an excellent writer."
Yvonne
I've fixed the problem, but had to remove all my old posts.
Thanks for the spotlight!
Thank you so much for letting me know. :)
I am glad you are receiving submissions in the Pathways challenge. It is a fun subject. The amazing thing about all the model challenges that I have seen is that they can be serious, funny, entertaining or just informational. I love that about the group. Everyone can participate, no matter what their particular talent is.
Have you received any new members lately as a result of making the members aware of the group?
I agree with Tami. It does say holiday. I do celebrate Christmas and I often don't even think of others who do not. I don't mean that as an insult in any way. Around here Christmas is all anyone celebrates. People who are born here tend to stay. Others don't usually move here because there are no jobs. LOL So I have lived a sheltered life.
I suggest you just do the survey and have fun with it. You could answer the question and then add your take on an alternative take on the subject.
I think we all need educated more on others believes and customs. I know, personally I love learning about other believes and customs. I love it.
Do the survey and educate me on how you celebrate. Have Fun!
I know very little about how the Jews celebrate Chanukah. I would read your post if you adjusted the questions. I would consider it an honor.
I hope you will take the survey and adjust your answers so we can be educated on how you practice your believes. I really do not know who does up the surveys. I am sure it was not intended to offend anyone though. I am sorry that you feel like your belief is being overlooked or ignored. Please take the survey and send me the link. I will be spotlighting some of the surveys in the Friday/Weekend edition of today on gather. I will spotlight yours at that time if you send me the link.
Again I would be very interested in learning how and when you celebrate your holiday. :)
It is always good to see you and you are always welcome. Did you enter any of the contests? I need to go read all of them again but I don't seem to have much time right now. I am trying to get ready for surgery on Monday.
I'll mostly be off gather until next week again, never enough time it seems.
I know just what you are saying. There is so much talent in the Gather community. Many of the members never tell anyone that they have a particular talent. I only found out about Darlene's talent by her comment in the live chat with Cathi on the Bird chat.
Did you enjoy viewing her work?
And congrats to all the winners!
I just can't get used to you changing your icon so much. Is that a new dog you are using as the icon now? I know you were hoping to add a new one to your family.
How do you like your new home? I bet it is great to have more room for the dogs to roam.
The house itself is way smaller but the yard is bigger for them. So it's a bit of both.
School has been keeping me VERY VERY busy. But atleast I can say my hard work is paying off and I am getting all A's right now! I never got an A in any college course before when I was going, so the hard work is all worth it I suppose :)
Hope you are having a great day!
I would really appreciate that. It gives me comfort to know that so many thoughts and prayers are going out on my behalf as I am put "under".
Don't feel like doing anything but am forcing some activity, such as computer work. I am sure it will pass.
Take care.
It is Great to see all the things going on here on Gather.
Thank-You!
Wonder who will be spotlighted in that issue?
You are very welcome. Thank you for sharing your talent with the rest of us. I loved your work and I did look at each and everyone of them. I also corrected the bird name. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. My brain is not working very well these days but I am on the countdown. . . 4 more days till surgery.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
Don't you ever apologize for anything you say on one of my posts!!! NEVER!!! I welcome conversation and your advice to Risa was great. In fact I added a comment encouraging her to post about her celebration as well. :) You are FREE to be YOU around me. LOL
I am always glad to see your icon. Did I mention that the books I won from you on Listia are Christmas gifts??? SHHH!!
LOL
Don't give up that easy. Be strong! Stay happy. :) I am thinking of you. Hope you are having a wonderful night full of peace and happiness. :)
