Houdini: Art and Magic will open just before the anniversary of Harry Houdini’s death which was on October 31. Houdini: Art and Magic will be a grand exhibit at the Jewish Museum of New York. It will showcase several of his magical props and even a recreation of the famed Water Torture Cell. It is expected to be an amazing exhibit and why wouldn’t it be? It is about the one magician all others have tried to emulate.
Houdini: Art and Magic is set to open on Friday, October 29 and will last until Sunday, March 27. Some the 163 things from Harry Houdini’s career showcased will be “handcuffs, shackles, straitjacket, a milk can and a packing trunk.â€
This exhibit is sure to give spectators deeper knowledge about the life and of Houdini. It’s really amazing that someone who died 84 years ago is still able to inspire awe in today’s society since. Let’s face it, today’s society has several negative and shallow aspects: Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Perez Hilton, etc.
Somehow, through all this time Harry Houdini’s ability to turn magic into art and art into magic has endured. It’s a testament to the man, the myth, the magician! With any luck, once Houdini: Art and Magic closes up shop or in this case “packing trunk,†the entire exhibit will be sent across the nation so everyone will get a chance to gawk at Houdini’s stuff. Seriously, who isn’t interested in seeing some chains, an empty box, vivid paintings, handcuffs… Hey, that’s starting to sound like a great romantic weekend!
