Director Tony Scott says there will be a Top Gun 2. Pretty exciting news considering Tom Cruise gave one of his best performances in the original Top Gun movie, which came out in 1986. In the original movie, Tom played Maverick, a pilot sent to the Top Gun Naval Flying School. Luckily for fans of the first film, Tom Cruise will make an appearance in the sequel.
Top Gun 2 is set to be released in 2012, although the script hasn’t even been finalized yet, and there are no trailers for the movie available. The director says Top Gun 2 will not be a remake of Top Gun, it’ll be a completely new movie.
So what’s the premise of Top Gun 2? This film will focus on the rise of the drone aircraft. This highly anticipated film won’t be hitting theaters for quite a while, so sit back, watch the original for the thousandth time and enjoy the glory days of Tom Cruise.
