CREATURE
©Robert C Burnham
My lonely corpse
Lies ‘neath the sand
Within this barren desert
I made my final stand
No one witnessed
My sweet demise
No one heard
My final lies
My heart wasn’t with me
When that final bell tolled
My mind too, removed
Though once extolled
All that is left
Haunting Apparition
Stalking with ancient
Babylonians & Phoenicians
A modern day mummy
I will come for you
My appetizer – your eyes
Your intestines – my stew
There is no cure
For the wrath I bring
Death’s taken my voice
But not my sting

Happy Halloween.
